DCC's Merry The Snow Angel

DCC’s paper mache is easy to paint with acrylic craft paint, usually with one coat coverage.

 

 

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Brown Permanent Fine Tip Marker
Crystal Clear Glitter
Pink Boa Trim
White Poster Board
Glue Gun & White Glue
Orange Tooth Pick (Wooden Party Toothpicks)
Acrylic Paints – white, pale pink, dark pink, pale yellow green
General painting supplies
OPTIONAL:  Small alphabet stamps, permanent green ink or permanent green marking pen

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS: Refer to pattern for painting guide lines
Painting Instructions –
Box - Paint star box pale pink with edge of the lid and inside the box painted  
pale yellow green.   Three small dots of dark pink are added to the lid in a
triangle shape.  Let dry. 
Snow Angel Body – Cut two arms from white poster board following pattern
illustration. 
Arm Pattern
Add a small hole to the right hand.  Paint entire body white and let dry.

Snow Angel Features - Use a pencil to draw make a dot for the nose. 
Pencil on the features (oval eyes and “U” shaped mouth to the second ball
of the paper mache piece.  Use your brown permanent fine tip marker to
define the eyes and mouth.  Erase pencil lines.  Rouge her cheeks with a wet
 brush and your darker pink acrylic paint.

Nose - Break the orange wood toothpick in half.  Make a small hole where you
penciled the nose dot, add glue and insert ½ tooth pick nose.

Dress - Paint dress portion of the snow princess from of the base of the face
 ball to the top of bottom ridge pale pink.  Add triangle of dark pink dots to
the dress.
Optional – if you have alphabet stamps you can stamp MERRY in green
permanent ink. Or, you can use a permanent green marker to write Merry in
 small letters all over the dress.

Angel Base – Paint Pale yellow green to the ridge and base of angel as shown.  Add pale pink polka dots using the wooden end of the brush to the green base.
Glue Snow Angels base to the top of the star box.

Rusty Tin-Tique Crown, Wings, Word MERRY, and Flower Garland – Use an awl or nail to make a small hole in the second hump of the “M”. Lightly brush some of
the pale yellow green to the tops of all four pieces of Tin-Tiques.  Do not cover the
entire rusty piece. Sprinkle with crystal glitter while the paint is still wet.

Glue arms in place on each side below the head ball.

Cover the entire outside of the box and the Snow angel in crystal glitter.

Bend crown to fit her head.  Add a touch of glue to hold it in place.

Use wire to tie on her wings.  (wire at front will be covered by boa.)

Use wire thru the “M” hole and her right hand.  Place her left hand through the space between the “R” and “Y”. 
Glue Rusty Tin-Tique Garland into white ridge area.

Glue boa to the Snow Angels neck, at base of dress and where the base sits on the box.

Box can be used for small gifts or tuck in words of inspiration to be used like an advent calendar.
