Sand & seal the Rusty Tin-Tique® Bees
BASKET
Paint basket inside and out in white. Add a 1" stripe of yellow green to rim. Add a stripe of terra cotta color just below 1" green stripe. Trace and transfer PATTERN.
Paint the sunflower petal in pollywog or petal strokes in layers starting with the green background petals. Thin the yellow green paint and start stroke where the brown center touches the petals on the pattern. Start the stroke on the flat edge of the brush and as you pull to the tip turn the brush so it ends up on the flat side. Practice a few strokes before painting on the basket. You do not have to let the green paint dry before continuing to add the yellow petals. Over stroke between the green petals with yellow, then repeat with pale yellow. Your brush will pick up some of the color from the previous strokes.
Wrap the terry cloth square around your finger and dab brown to the center near the petals and down into center about 1". Pick up terra cotta on your dirty terry cloth and dab all the way to the center. Be sure to dab some terra cotta over brown so that you do not have a line where the terra cotta meets the brown. Dab yellow green over center of flower.
Optional: Ink detail to sunflower.
BEES
Thin the paint very thin and blot your brush to remove excess water. Lightly paint the wings white, body of bee black with yellow stripes.
Adhere bees to basket.
Spatter with terra cotta color.
